SunnysideLOCAL Produce and Nursery is a licensed nursery and certified farmers market grower located in Redlands, California.  It is the work of two friends, Mindy Kuhn and Jane Crawford, who share a similar philosophy about food.  As much as possible eat sustainably grown food that is raised locally and tastes great.  Our goal is to offer you fresh, seasonal and healthy in three different ways.   We are currently operating as a “Certified Naturally Grown” Farm.  For more details about this certification, please view the  “FARMING PRACTICES” page.  Our farm evaluation documents are publically available.

NURSERY STOCK  As a nursery, certified and inspected by San Bernardino County Department of Agriculture, we sell plants throughout the spring months.  Strawberry plants, blueberry plants and Heirloom tomatoes are our primary plant focus.

PRODUCE   SunnysideLOCAL is a small working farm and citrus grove located on  Sunnyside Avenue in Redlands.  Our grower’s certification allows us to sell you our fresh, seasonal produce at the peak of freshness and flavor.  The selection has a decidedly mediterranean flavor.  Beautiful, unique and delicious tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers, peppers, squash and cut herbs are ready for market starting early June until fall.  We also have a variety of citrus to sell year round.

JAMS AND PREPARED FOODS   SunnysideLOCAL seasonal jam,  pesto, syrup and artisanal caramels are all made from our Certified Naturally Grown produce.  Fruit, vegetables and herbs, ripen in our farmscape all season long.  This allows us to be year round jam makers from our stock of farm grown oranges, tangerines, grapefruit, lemons, blueberries, strawberries, figs, pomegranates, blackberries, peaches, plums and nectarines.  Our prepared foods are crafted in a local commercial kitchen in Mentone that is inspected and health permitted.

All of our plants and produce are grown from organic seeds sown in excellent organic potting mix.  Our growing fruit includes a variety of citrus including Washington Navel and Valencia oranges, Moro Blood oranges. Eureka lemons, Nagami kumquats, Clementine tangerines, Cara tangerines, Oro Blanco and Marsh White grapefruit, peaches (white and yellow), Nectarines (white and yellow), Black Mission figs, Wonderful pomegranates, strawberries (grown for jam stock), blueberries and coming soon, 2 varieties of blackberries.  Insecticides are never used and weed killing is done with an OMRI approved orange oil based herbicide.  Our produce is grown using biodynamic growing methods supporting your health and the health of the soil.  With our long days of California sun, healthy, fresh food is never far away.

“Farming is inherently an optimistic act, a belief that you and your hands can make something happen, even if you couldn’t last year”

We look forward to nurturing optimism and growing healthy food.
